This was too funny not to share. You all know how much of a fan of I am of the mobile device that has changed the game. It’s crazy to think of how much the iPhone has changed the landscape of mobile technology. I have a good friend that is working in Motorola’s mobile User Experience team that recently shared this video with on the eve of Verizon’s Droid launch.

Enjoy…

I’m starting my countdown to more iPhone withdrawal , according to the Wired & other great sources there will be some nice and modest upgrades in the new iPhone. I’ve been relegated to a Blackberry since my firm will simply not wake up and support Microsoft ActiveSync.

I’m thinking of at least taking it for a spin … too bad AT&T is the only choice for these things.  T-Mobile’s service is far superior but unfortunately T-Mobile has put their 3G UMTS on the 1700/2100 MHz freq … AT&T’s is on the 850/1900 MHz.  The iPhone does not support T-Mo’s 1700 MHz band :(

Still … It’s something for me to get geeked out about and look forward to, even if it ultimately it is not compatible in supporting my work mobile life. I’ll be sticking to my antiquated and ugly Blackberry 8900.

MobileMeMobileMe finally has become stable enough to play around and get a good feel for what it has to offer.   Although stable (meaning I can access me.com consistently) it’s still not working 100% ,  I’m having partial contacts sync and missing contacts on my iPhone.   Overall though, MobileMe looks really nice though lacks functionality in some key areas. My impressions were that it was more along the lines of a final release product, not something more of a beta…   Apple has been running .Mac for years,  seems somewhat surprising Cupertino did not nail it on the first try.  I am hoping to see an updated release with performance improvements and additions to missing functionality very soon.

The biggest disappointment in my opinion is the lack of integration of personal domains.  I would love to be able to have the true “Exchange for the rest of us” experience with the capability to bring my own domain e-mail.   Similar to the service Google Apps is offering for domains.

I’ve been constantly checking me.com over the last few days with the tips from over at TUAW on the go live predictions.  About 15 minutes ago, (11:25 AM CDT)  I was able to go to me.com, I saw the login box (see screen shot below)  and at the bottom of the page I was able to see and click the 60 day free trial link,  it took me all the way through the order process. (you have to provide a CC for the free trial)  I’m super stoked because I was able to secure the golden email of jace(at)me(dot)com  woo hoo!!!!

MobileMe

Since I signed up I can not login yet, me.com is directing me back to the guided tour page that has been up for quite some time.

Update: I was able to login at me.com , see the screen shots below.  It’s definitely in a pre-launch phase.  When I clicked the mail link it directs me back to the MobileMe guided tour page.  My guess is we will see the official lunch sometime this afternoon.

OK – this is your free opportunity to make fun of me for this total take on American marketing spurring consumerism at it’s finest. We are less than 22 hours away from the iPhone 3G launch. I’m am so stoked, best way to celebrate my birthday is being a true Apple fan boy and camping out at 3a in front of Chicago’s Fullerton Ave AT&T store.  I’ll be getting the white 16GB iPhone for myself,  and the 8GB black for the Pete man.
AT&T got exactly what they wanted out of us,  converting from T-Mobile over to AT&T to enjoy the 3G speedy goodness.

I’ve been the biggest blog whore lately salivating of Michael Arrington’s TechCrunch app previews for the new 2.0 firmware, checkout Boy Genius Report’s unboxing gallery … and TUAW’s countdown to the MobileMe Launch!

Tonight I’ll wake my ass up at 3a (or so excited just might not sleep) and head over the AT&T store, coffee and bagel in hand, camp out with my MacBook and blog live while sitting in line w/ who knows how many other geeks.
